>>Queens Day
28th April - 1 May 2012

Up to a million people take to the streets of Amsterdam for the annual Queen's Birthday celebrations to join in with the dancing and the fun. The already eclectic city of Amsterdam is transformed into a sea of orange as carnival floats, parades, street theatre, fireworks, DJ music and a decorated canal boats create a celebration not to be missed!

The party goes kicks off on 'Koninginnenacht' (Queens Night) 29th April and goes through the night, until the evening of the next day ‘Koninginnedag’ (Queens Day).

Bargain hunters are sure to find some treats in the massive flea market that takes place on the streets of the city. Many people set up stalls or blankets in parks, on sidewalks and even on the roads themselves to sell their second hand goodies, as this is the only day of the year when the Government does not charge the seller taxes!

For Royalty watchers there is the chance to glimpse the present Queen Beatrix, whose mother Queen Juliana’s birthday was on 30th April.

Join us for a weekend of indulgence in the city that never sleeps. This is one of Europe’s biggest & brightest street parties and a definite must for the 2012 Calendar.

Coach Transport:
Transport is via coach and ferry. All of our coaches are executive models meaning they are equipped with a stereo, TV and video player, and a toilet. The coach journey from London to Amsterdam is around 8-9 hours and of course we make stops along the way for food, drink and cigarette breaks. Please note: First Festival Travel tours are all about great parties so we do allow moderate drinking aboard the coaches.
Accommodation:
Our accommodation for this tour is in ‘Chalet’ style dorm rooms on a popular campsite only 8 kms out of the city centre. The Dorm rooms are spacious, modern, clean and have the option of heating (although hopefully we will not be needing this!). The campsite has excellent facilities including clean bathrooms, hot showers, a campsite shop, FREE WIFI throughout, a large kitchen & dining area with full self catering facilities, an onsite laundry and bicycle hire shop.

Please note, dorms are 6-8 people per dorm. If you wish to share with your friends, please notify us upon booking who you wish to share with so that we can ensure this request is added to your booking.

The campsite is a short walk from the Metro station, where you can get the train directly into the heart of Amsterdam in around 20 minutes. Alternatively, this is also a bus into the  centre which runs 24 hours a day! Our coach will also be doing regular shuttles inbetween the campsite & the city centre for your convenience.
